On April 26, 2021, a groundbreaking public-private collaboration was established with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, a partnership that dramatically increased UW-Eau Claire's supercomputing processing power.

Countless applications, unlimited opportunity

The addition of a cluster of over 60 high-powered data servers housed off campus at the Chippewa Valley Technical College puts computational power more than 100 times faster than previous campus servers into the hands of Blugold students and faculty. 

Thanks to Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the National Science Foundation, UW-Eau Claire is the first university in the United States to use HPE’s Apollo servers with the Cray hardware called Slingshot. 

Not only do our students gain the chance to conduct research in areas ranging from deep learning and artificial intelligence to data mining and computational number theories, leaders and technicians at HPE can now pioneer new technologies and receive expert feedback from our talented faculty and staff.

The system, now called the Blugold Center 为 High Powered Computing, has changed the face of data-driven research at UW-Eau Claire, thanks to in-kind grants of hardware from HPE and subsequent National Science Foundation funding. 

This investment epitomizes the power of partnerships to drive innovation and provide mutual benefits.
